[2] Frederick Noronha asked: Pleasant to the ears = a familiar dialect?

RESPONSE:

NO.

What is known as 'ghati Marathi' is heard all over Poona. It does not
make it pleasant. The poorly spoken (I am not talking about accents,
here) English is heard all over Goa (esp the guys). It does not make
it pleasant. It is rude.

BTW: As an example: Have you ever heard the Rangel Ribeiros
communicate? Is it not very pleasant?

BTW: Isn't Lucknowi Urdu more pleasant and courteous than the Hyderabadi Urdu?

If familiarity to the ear was the bar for pleasantness, ALL the loud
and 'bindass' burping, belching and flatulating heard publicly in many
parts of India, would have been pleasant. It is not.

Have a good week ahead, guys
