Louder noises by moderates or centrists like Santosh Helekar would have gone a
long way in assuring that there is some hope that this country will not fall
into religious fascism. Those noises are mysteriously almost missing for
whatever reason. When Velingkar, Bhembre and Karmali type elements attach
anti-national titles to the christian community, I am yet to read about
moderate Hindus taking them on.
While 50 percent or even more Hindu children study in private English medium
schools, the voices from this community are practically absent to defend FORCE.
For Rights issues to be justified does it depend on which political party
raises the issue? Is it something like, Corruption is a cancer that needs to be
eradicated whereas attacking minorities is something to be brushed under the
carpet and justified as nationalism?
