Just like JC, I too fully endorse and support Carmen Miranda for what she is
doing due her love for Goa. Tony de Sa is justified in expressing his doubts
looking at what has happened in the past. Many politicians, the so called
sincere lovers of Goa who got elected overnight changed and became interested
only in amassing wealth and forgot what the Goan voters had elected them for.
Just because some turned crooked does not mean that everyone would do the same.
As JC wrote " It is better to have tried and succeeded than not have tried
at all." We must remember that Carmen and other lovers of Goa are fighting
against very heavy odds and it is not easy in today's world to succeed. Her
fight is like lighting a small candle in a dark room rather than cursing the
darkness and living with it. We should lend our support to any sincere Goan
coming forward to fight corruption. Goans all over should support her/SGM
and wish her all success in whatever she does for a better Goa.
While on this, I would also like to comment that on Goanet sometimes we find
talented Goans taking on other fellow Goanetters. While the need of the hour
is unity among Goans and using our talent in whatever capacity and
contribution no matter how small for a better Goa, Goanet forum is used to
criticise our fellow Goan netters. Constructive criticism is useful and
should be welcome but criticism just for the sake of it is not at all
necessary. Let us use our talents to take on the corrupt politicians and
exposing the wrongs being done in Goa rather than fellow Goans and use our
time and energy to save Goa from being ruined. Maybe the impact may not be
huge, but even a small impact will go a long way in saving Goa and make Goans
happy and proud.
Dev borem korum.

Tony de Sa?wrote:? There was a Save Goa Movement in Goa approximately
5 years ago. Today the so called Saviours of Goa have sacrificed the
the votes of gullible voters who voted them into power at the altar of
opportunism and power.? I can only hope that the Save Goa Campaign
does not follow suit. At the end of the day, the primrose path to
perdition is still paved with good intentions! It is also to be hoped
that the good intentions will be sustained and not?SOLD down the
river.
My dear Tonybab,
My opinion - for what it is worth.
1: Carmen Miranda (who, I consider to be the driving force of SGM) is
not in it for the publicity.
2: She might be a dreamer - but she is not naive.
3: She does not need to do this. She wants to make an effort. She is
trying without looking for 'political or material compensation'.
4: Individuals like her cannot be bought. So there is nothing that will be SOLD.
5: If the SGM fails, it won't be because of the principals of SGM; It
will be because 'men' without principles will continue to place
granite walls to obstruct the betterment of Goa.
6: Your 'thoughts', however benign in their intention, are unkind to
individuals like Carmen.
7: I may be wrong ....but I do not believe I am.
8: It is better to have tried and succeeded than not have tried at all.
with good wishes to Carmen, SGM ....and to you.
