Anil Desai writes: My question to the contributors to the subject of MOI: Are these parents Goan?
Response: We don't know whether these parents are Goan or not. The mother-tongue of Goans is Konkani. Since they haven't chosen to study in Konkani but in Marathi, we can only presume they consider themselves Goans but prefer to speak in Marathi. Anil Desai writes: Do their views matter? Response: Yes, of course their views matter. Which is why it is wonderful that the Goa Government caters to their views. Their views matter just as much as all those parents who want their children to study in English. If they, much like the Goans above, also chose not to study in Konkani but English instead, should the government disregard their views while catering to yours. I simply don't understand why people don't respect democracy. Best, Selma
