Margaret’s hope that future > endeavours too would use local talent is also shared by me. I'm not so much into 'local talent' or 'outside' talent. My concern is that quality should be good, and the final product should be attractive. Having said that, our work *does* depend on some of the best local talent available in the field, by way of cover designs by Bina Nayak. Personally, I think she adds a lot of value to the same. The books are typeset in Goa, using some very helpful internationally-crafted Free Software [http://www.lyx.org] Our printer is Rama Harmalkar, though frankly I believe Mumbai still provides better (compared to Goa) value for money and quality when it comes to printing quality for books. We are trying to get a Kannada book translated, and I find the professional translators in Bangalore more professional. There is the undeniable need to build up skills here -- including for (i) translations (ii) editing (iii) proof reading (iv) layout and related aspects. Translations (as Dr Savia was pointing out in the DKA function) are perhaps the most crucial!
