In Nairobi we had the Goan Institute G.I. (founded in 1905) I think, then the Railway Goan Institute - many Goans worked for the Railways and the Goan Gymkhana who broke off from the G.I. on grounds of caste issues! It is nicely recorded in Theresa Albuquerque's book on Kenya Goans, or is it Goans in Kenya. Things like the brochure are a keep sake and are a reference. If bondolam is written in them, then they are of no use really, except to murky the waters. -- DEV BOREM KORUM Gabe Menezes.
