I ran into a very prominent long-time councilor of the Panjim Municipality
today at the Collector's Panjim.
Helloes apart, I told the man that we have been watching him on the telly
exercising his tonsils and appreciating it.
He laughed and said " but that is what we do and we are tired of it all,
nothing changes but life goes on".
"So what are your plans now for the coming elections?" I asked. [and I
hadn't expected the answer that I got as it was shocking.]
"I have joined the CONGRESS" he said, with a smile.
"But why?" I asked him, "when you have been with the NCP for all these
years?".
"What to tell you" he says, "blame it all on Dr. Willy".
"Is that so?" I said and told him " your late brother did write to me before
he passed away that I should give you the GSRP ticket for Panjim"
To that he shook his head and said " A party must be vibrating all the time,
not only when elections are around the corner".
"Well", I said, "I guess blue-bottle flies always but always feel the
strong vibrations that the stinking, rotting pile of shit emanates, don't
you agree?" [ BTW I said the line in Amchi Konkani i.e Guva'voile mus'ank
vibration khuim assa tem rockdench kouta. Nhoi?]
I didn't notice when or where this man vanished.
The bit about Justice Ferdinho Rebello for Cuncolim, Justice Nelson Britto
for Porvorim is indeed pleasing, soothing trans music to these ears. This is
not the first time I am hearing it. But the bit about Dr. Oscar Rebello!

Justice Ferdinho Rebello's statement regarding the attack on the environment
and the fast conversion of our agriculture land into concrete jungle is very
much true.It's all happening with the blessing of the people in power.The
present government though elected by the people looks like they represent
the illegal mining lobby,Real Estate developers and all sort of powerful
ugly people.
The history creators of my village of Cuncolim died long ago and sorry to
say that they will never come back again.Presently we don't have our own
leader to represent us in the Goa assembly as a result of which we have been
electing a man from Varca to represent us during the last two assembly
elections and sorry to say that some of the Cuncollekars have even termed
him as our Saviour.
The village have given birth to sons like Justice Ferdinho Rebello and only
people like him can clean the present mess created in our system.Middle
class people sometimes don't have an alternative with regard to elections as
a result of which they prefer to stay inside their houses on the election
day.Passing statements, writing articles and giving speeches won't
help,people like Justice Ferdinho Rebello,Dr.Oscar Rebello etc should
contest elections and try to change the present illegal ugly system
developing in Goa.
Will Cuncollekar Justice Rebello contest the coming polls from the Cuncolim
constituency?Niz Cuncollekars wants you to contest,will you oblige?It's a
million dollar question?
