We are a petty people, indulging on a gradient of petty activity. People get riled when such things are said, on account of their having narrow peeves which trigger a response. Those responses have been knee-jerk practiced over and over in their feeling inept, or having been thwarted at getting something, etc.
That pettiness is legend and does not consider anything in egalitarian spirit. Worse, it does not relate to real politic. It is FASCiST, and please do not argue on this. The Political Brand in Goa negates everything that is visually western, unless it is a car, underwear, home products, etc. Sound incongrous? Figure it out, and its a complex list. [[[[ HENCE IT IS IMPORTANT to read Ashish NANDY ]]]]. Read, http://www.india-seminar.com/2002/513/513%20ashis%20nandy.htm Probably those among the said petty may have problems with PN too and accounting of feeling struck/ being stricken. They feel ridiculed inside, burnt up. They cannot relate to the fact that people of Goan ancestry came about/were born in unique circumstances. Many people have Grandfathers born in various parts of India. I am talking of people who are 90 and above today. They cannot accept that you have a voice and will use it. Alfred Rose has a voice and he has the ears on Goan soil, both his own and the Goan people. For them someone like ANTHONY MASCARENHAS, the Goan Pakistani who exposed Pakistan would be a TRAITOR in their OWN minds. Forget what Pakistan thinks. JUST GIVE THAT A LONG THOUGHT. Think about that! But then we talk about Sanathan Dharma, and the others other Christianity and love. And what I say often will be seen as my babbling! These issues and their understanding have to be cultivated down the line and in that regard no one can touch the church in its ability to do so and, but too many of the clergy too are of the same peeved stock who are scared of poverty that comes with dissent (although one overcomes). On the other hand those established in their communities do not appear to correct those in their communities, other than giving broad summations as happens on these forums, and on Facebook. So the beat AND the verbal "beatings"/harangues continue. There is deep rancour at many levels. In the same way as it is seen among segments in both communities, it is very much present among in both communities at various strata's. So. every perceived notion gets played out in various forms; more often cruder than benign, and is realized within ones community, and those outside as well as the other community with respect to stratification and felt/assumed privileges. That pettiness extends to summoning up the ability to comment, or convey thanks on a POST or a blog entry, a comment on the blog entry, or even reciprocate--not just for the sake of it, but in egalitarian spirit and motive. It further extends into bullying, ignoring, soporific comments, withholding opinions--why so one savour ones talents on writing the next important piece! So, when one points on these FB forums, and correctly too that Goa was conquest, as opposed to it belong called a Liberation; someone gets these underwear bunched up. The point is that yes, in the sense of the Portugal pulling anchor from Goa--it was about being liberated of them, and that it was accomplished by India. But the fact that it is regarded by India itself as a Conquest is not palatable to many of the same Indian Goans; and they will let you know it. They will not change their minds in respect to the country that we all profess to love. But love is not enough, you have to follow certain brand of patriotism. Basically the point is to get people to STFU (Shut the F&^% UP). ++++++++++++ venantius j pinto > Message: 1 > Date: Sat, 17 Dec 2011 13:01:55 +0530 > From: Frederick FN Noronha ???????? ???????? *??????? ??????? > <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [Goanet] WENDELLL WE SHOULD DO IT OURSELVES: MEMORIAL TO > MARIO MIRANDA > > > The other rich one was never awarding Alfred Rose officially in Goa, > ostensibly on the claim that he did not live in Goa (if I recall right!)
