Thanks… very kind of you… pl. can u put the English lines in-between the
Konkani ones.
Or tell me the following meanings.
Is kavlo and kavlea the same thing ???  Do they both mean ‘crow’?
What is gharacher ghai… ??
What is ‘moll’??
Also, my father used to sing this song”Ami ghoinim, dudhuwali, muskreank
adtaeim, ghanteavelim
Roughly translated:  We are cowherds, milkmaids, we bring back the cattle at
the call of the angelus bells)..
.
Do you know it??  Where can I get the full song… it’s quite beautiful…
Awaiting your reply.. and  with many thanks…

The song/video

Pipitt = Sweets (toffee, peppermint, chocolate etc)
see a pic (traditional or of my childhood sweets)

Biskutt = Biscuits  (Marie , animal shaped etc)

Bol = Sweet round bread (from baker and NOT the small dark wedding 'bol')
see item no 7 in this pic

Pipitt, kemkem (banana), tata  (sleep)  are usually some of the terms in child
language
(tata is NOT pronounced as in bye bye 'tata', instead, pronounce it by touching
tip of you tongue to your teeth = thatha)

Similarly, Memem (fish), Koko or mum-mum (rice/food/xit), Kaka, susu etc
##

Also, my father used to sing this song
”Ami ghoinim, dudhuwali, muskreank adtaeim, ghanteavelim
# we are shepherds, milkmaids, we brings (our) herds (buffaloes) from across
the border (e.g. maharastra, Karnataka)
Roughly translated:  We are cowherds, milkmaids, we bring back the cattle at
the call of the angelus bells)..
# Ganttar here does not relates to bell
# W e call 'Ghantti' to migrants coming from other states of India (usually the
neibhbouring states)

Kemkem  means kelem  (banana) in child's language
as in koko or mum mum (for food/ rice)
chandi mama (uncle moon)

I was very touched with two videos I saw on the Youtube.
-The one, of the song “Dol mojea bai’
-And the other of ‘Claudia’.
While I found the translation of ‘Claudia’ in the video itself (in the lyrics
below it),
I couldn’t get the translation of ‘Dol mojea bai’ anywhere..
Pl. can you send it to me… I want to share it with my kid… she likes the song
very  much.
Thank you… (yes, I am a Goan, but I’m too sure of all the words in the
song.  What does “kem kem “ mean??
Awaiting your reply,
xxx
