KEEP ARMYMEN AWAY FROM POLITICS
This view of Kuldip Nair in one of our local dailies is strange. Just like
General McArthur was removed after the second world war, so also was Winston
Churchill. General Eisenhower became President of United States! No person from
the armed forces has become Prime Minister or President of our country. There is
no comparison with General V.K.Singh and conclusions drawn like political
ambitions whilst in service etc which appear to be incorrect. It was VK who
struggled to stem corruption in the Army to bring high ranking officers and
vested interests to book. Politics is everywhere. Why should he be kept away
from continuing his mission against corruption after retiring? The
idiosyncrasies of individuals and perceived misdemeanors (permitted to survive
by the same authorities, but brought up to shoot the messenger, for which the
law should take its course) of the messenger against corruption are irrelevant,
compared to doing something about the message on priority! I think the nation
requires every effort to fight the endemic corruption that is corroding the
soul of this nation.
