Flight booking on the internet – Money goes out of bank a/c instantly but comes back after 7-14 days? Recently, I had to rush to Delhi on a very short notice (attend funeral). I booked return ticket on Air India Goa-Del-Goa sector (returning next day). Paid money using my ATM /Debit Card.
Transaction gone through and I received SMS from my bank saying Rs.17K have been debited to my account reducing my balance to 12K. Soon I got another email notification from ccAvenue saying “Your payment has been processed. However the system was unable to confirm your booking. This is a rare occurrence and can happen when there is a sudden drop in seat availability on your chosen flight or a fluctuation in the connectivity with the airline reservation system. Your payment has been sent for refund processing and the same will be processed within the next 2 business days. However, the actual time taken for the credit to reflect in your account depends on your bank. We will send you a confirmation mailer once the refund is processed from our end” Soon came this from the agents “The refund should reflect in your bank or credit card account in the next 7 working days depending on your bank's processing cycle. If the refund amount does not reflect in your account, kindly follow up with your bank.” Notification 3 –via SMS, later, same day from agents-MMT ‘Refund of 17K has been processed. It should reflect into your account in 7-14 days.’ Now, what choice do I have? The only other airline was Indigo that flies around that time and it was quoting 19K on top returning time was not favourable to me but I could not book it as I had no enough balance in the debit card account i.e. 29K reduced to 12K (I do not have credit cards yet). I did not make it to Delhi (not my fault). Secondly, if our money can go out instantly, why not the same come in with same speed? why they require 7-14days, to earn interest out of it? Dodgy, very dodgy dealings ? I will have to wait next 9 days to see if money are back or else I will have to chase..
