The phrase "assorted idiots" is a container/ a meaningful placeholder, where readers may congruently insert more precise meaning, and say their own piece. Or attempt to see themselves in whatever light. This is another example where I extrapolated from a given source, the U.S. examples.
I agree to your point re: "self-righteous chauvinists," or as you you spelled out in toto: Actually, I think most of them are not really idiots. They are merely self-righteous chauvinists who believe that they are persecuted by followers of other religions and by the non-religious. Chauvinism, since I first realized it as a distressing quality (in myself too, in college) also comes in many guises. Hope this does not implying my willingness to shoot myself in the foot. And, I agree to your last point. ++++++++++ venantius j pinto Message: 9 > Date: Thu, 27 Dec 2012 09:17:38 -0800 (PST) > From: Santosh Helekar <[email protected]> > To: "Goa's premiere mailing list, estb. 1994!" > <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [Goanet] Pathetic Christianity > > ----- Original Message ----- > > > From: Venantius J Pinto <[email protected]> > > > > As America Mourned a Shooting Tragedy, Cynical Christian Right > Leaders?Tried to Cash in by Blaming Atheism What kind of Christianity is > that > > > http://www.alternet.org/news-amp-politics/america-mourned-shooting-tragedy-cynical-christian-right-leaders-tried-cash > > >? > > > > This should also give assorted idiots in India, and on Goanet > an?understanding that there are many brands (if you will) of Christianity, > and?one necessarily more zealous than the other, > > > > How many such assorted idiots are there on Goanet?
