The closest connection is: "The upper caste Gaonkar Christians have demanded that only their community be given positions on the Pastoral Council of Goa's Catholic Church.[16]" The fact that this upper caste group made the demand would suggest that they do not have that right. And there is no reference that their demand has been accepted. In the past the Bamons tended to be priests was in major part related to the fact that they were the only group with any education and literacy skills. With widespread religious affiliated schools, that problem is much resolved.
