    Caveat: I'm way out of my league here, but my thought is, it might be a 
good idea to see how other package management systems handle dependencies. 
Has anyone looked at Pardus' system (PiSi)? The homepage is at 
http://www.pardus.org.tr/eng/projects/pisi/. Now, Pardus has its own package 
scheme (using a combination of XML and Python), but PiSi itself is written in 
Python, is GPL, and it can be found at 
http://svn.pardus.org.tr/uludag/trunk/pisi. I'm not suggesting replacing 
Gobo's current scheme for the one found in Pardus, but it might offer some 
inspiration.
