There are many formal organisations available already (www.spi-inc.org for example), so if we are going to set up another, there should be a damn good reason why, else we're just making unnecessary admin work for ourselves and spending time which would be better spent on an existing organisation. 2. Copyright assignment seems less good than Fiduciary Licensing Agreements or similar. Even then, you need a pretty high level of trust to surrender what little influence over your code you have and a new organisation just won't have that.
