Regarding the timing of our scheduled maintenance, we try our best to pick times that will have the smallest effect on our developers. This isn't easy and, as you've pointed out, it's never going to work seamlessly for everyone. Regarding the existence of scheduled maintenance--we completely agree. We're working on eliminating the need for these and will keep you posted on our progress.
