Hi Douglas. Have you considered using the SSO offered by google?
http://code.google.com/apis/apps/sso/saml_reference_implementation.html My understanding of the process is that if you have an Identity Provider your end that is capable of talking to the google SSO provider then you don't have to worry about the google passwords at all.
