OK, now I seem to get my "primary" calendar, but none of the other calendars I try to create. There seem to be problems where errors like this are not easily reproduced. At least I'm no longer getting the "user not found" type errors.
If anyone from Google development would like to request any specific test routines or debugging information, I'd be happy to supply.
