I also have a gadget with over 50k users and it went down in the directory to 8000 (when i am logged in) or 21000 (when I am logged out). On the other hand in the dashboard it shows over 51k, so i'm cool for the moment, but i think Google shall give an explanation for this as it affects our lives, for some this makes a living.
