  Absolutely!  Shame Google aren't shipping new newer versions
officially for Linux.

  Just remember not to click the 'Places' tab!


  And if you do and Picasa locks and will no longer start, the fix is
(for those googling for it):

- Kill Picasa
- Edit ~/.google/picasa/3.0/user.reg
- Change "active_metadata_tab"="thumbui/places_toggle" to
"active_metadata_tab"="thumbui/people_toggle"
- Save and rerun Picasa.
