This is wonderful news. Kudos to the team at Google for pushing this
through the legal team and for the accomplishment on the engineering
side. There is much work to be done, certainly, but this is a big
step forward which will benefit many developers.

On the subject of remaining work, I wish that I were able to drop
everything and start testing this immediately. There are two factors
that give me pause. The first is a specific request -- support for
editable lines and polygons [1] -- which is a critical personal
priority. The second is a more general realization that Flash will
likely lag behind Javascript for the foreseeable future. Aggressive
projects in AIR have three choices: embrace the limited functionality
of the Flash API, use the Javascript through <mx:HTML>, or use an
alternate vendor. While the second choice requires some 'creativity'
in deployment and might violate the letter of the ToS [2], it offers
much richer capabilities. I cannot tell if this usage model has been
explicitly considered.

But those misgivings can wait for another day. For today my thoughts
may be condensed to a single word, 'Thanks'.

[2] I cannot say either way.
