I don't think Google has dropped the flash maps API. There lack of
updates is some what understandable because the actual usage of the
flash maps API is significantly lower then their javascript API, so
they are not going to commit as many resources to it. However, it is
still being used, and the core is solid and people can still add to it
through the utility library. There isn't a lot I would like to see
them add, outside of Styled Maps support, however I know there is a
lot it doesn't have, such as Google Street View as well. It's still a
good API to use depending on what you're doing.
