There are also undocumented http driving directions service in Google 
that return HTML and KML.

In all three cases, it would be technically possible to parse the reply 
in your server and output it as simple text. With the KML version you 
could even grab the polyline and, if there are sufficiently few nodes, 
plot it on a static map.

Using any of these would be well outside the Terms of Use.
