Wow. Seriously? That's quite an oversight especially seeing how much they've tailored their own mapping app to do directions/routing/ navigation with multiple waypoints. Just about any other application out there that can do this that I have seen has had an option to actually optimize routes by what order provides the shorter distance through them all to the designated ending waypoint.
Honestly I thought with how open it was and just being google in general, this idea would actually be pretty workable. Google's routing system works really well from my experience and seems advanced enough to handle most of this.
