But... then all that code would be included with the API for a very infrequently used (this is the first time I've seen this request) function. Better for the developer who needs such a thing to develop it for themselves and spare the rest of us the pain of loading it every time the API is called. Don't you think?
The API is heavy enough as it is. Adding more occasionally used functions will only make it fat and unwieldy.
