Er... could you unpack that a bit, please?

As the United Kingdom is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland, a distinction needs to be made between what is Great
Britain and what is the British Isles.

Ireland is one of the British Isles; the Channel Islands and the Isle
of Man are British Isles. But Eire, the Channel Islands and the Isle
of Man are not within the United Kingdom. Northern Ireland is part of
the United Kingdom but not part of Great Britain.
