I am working on a map-based application in which data tied to certain physical locations is represented as a vertical, color-coded polyline (think of a bar from a bar graph). there are around 2000 of these, mostly very small, each an encoded polyline that is drawn from a static file, which is then generated at some time in the past from the database. it doesn't seem to make a difference in the behaviour i'm seeing whether that information is retrieved via ajax or embedded in the html.
i've seen a variety of inconsistent behaviour, including lines being drawn on the part of the map that i can see, and then when i zoom out none of the rest of the map has any of the lines that should be there. what i am seeing most consistently, though, is that zoomed far out where i can see the whole world map, all of the lines appear, and as i zoom in on the US, which should be densely populated with polylines, they begin to disappear from north to south -- the further in i zoom, the more lines i lose across the northern hemisphere. once this happens, the lines don't seem to come back when i zoom back out again. all of the points in all of the lines are set to the same zoom level, with zoomFactor set to 16 and numLevels set to 4. for a variety of reasons i can't get a live demo of this up to share, but i'd really like to hear any ideas or similar experiences. i'm also happy to send the files via email to anyone interested. thanks! violet, developer, macrosystems --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API" group.
