I'm just reading through thier TOU at the moment to be sure, so far there is no direct mention tracking or vehicles. Difference here though is that i could just ring Microsoft's free support helpline and they would answer my question there and then or find someone with the legal chops to make a decision. > - use a real mapserver with bought geodata We've actually done this already so technically an option, but financially maybe not. Data accessible by UK higher education to enable research is obtained under favourable private use licenses, when it comes to dissemination / publication of research results based on this data in either static (e.g. maps in papers) or interactive (e.g. in desktop or web apps) the licenses are often very different and much more prohibitive in terms of what can be done and cost to relax the use contraints.
