The maps API uses a very out-of-data postcode dataset too, at least pre-November-2006. This means some postcodes won't be understood by the API geocoder (mainly a problem around Cambridge) and many PO Box postcodes, which are updated more often than normal postcodes, will also have this problem.
Google's own maps use a pretty up-to-date postcode database, and are also licensed to geocode the whole thing. http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/issues/detail?id=777 for more info on the Cambridge postcode problem. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API" group.
