Ok. here you go. Not sure what was wrong with my googling skills
yesterday, but there are lots of definitions for degenerate spherical
triangle.
eg from http://www.ohiorc.org/pm/math/richProblemMath.aspx?pmrid=73
... A degenerate spherical triangle would have its three vertices all
on a great circle, with one side coinciding with the combination of
the other two...
There are dozen's more. Just put "degenerate spherical triangle" (with
the quotes) into a google search.
