Tiles are 256px square. At zoom level 0, the entire world fits into a
single tile; at zoom 1, there are four tiles making an image 512x512.

Mercator projection being what it is, the tiles only cover that part
of the globe between latitudes 85S and 85N, approximately.

You don't say anything about the height of your map div, but you are
rather stuck with what the API provides, if you want to use the API.
