Yes and no - the image is an image and you can't do much with it
interactively.
It comes in zooms same as the API tiles but once you have it as a jpeg
or whatever you can stretch it.
You can ask for images and paths to be marked on it  by Google when
you request it.
But of course you can generate your own images server-side and overlay
them, example -

Whether this is any use depends entirely on the job you're trying to
do.
