Ok. I've updated the google page by adding the {clickable:false} and
by turning off the shadows on the markers. At least I think I turned
them off properly. It didn't seem very clear in google's
documentation. Guess they don't want you to turn off the shadows.
I also, made and old link so you can see the difference these changes
made in performance. Google still seems the slowest.
Here are my scores:
WinXP SP3 Pentium 4 @ 2.6 with 4 GB Ram
Latest Dev of Chrome:
Google 426 (old 650)
MSN 319
Yahoo 236
Yahoo's still on top but not a huge difference between the 3. But
here's the kicker. The target audience of my app is for even the slow
IE 6/7 browsers. Where the speed difference will definitely matter.
IE7:
Google 3156 (old 3672)
MSN 1484
Yahoo 1219
Also, you can keep clicking the Go buttons to keep adding an
additional 200 markers. In case you want to see how each maps scales
with large numbers of markers.
