Godd luck with that.  This group is about the javascript Maps API, so
it's all rather out of scope ; I think you'll get much better help
elsewhere. Use of actual files is a bit unusual, usually it's done by
having a server-side script that generates the data on the fly.

If you do plan on using the API (you don't say), I can throw in that
it does already include a browser-independant wrapper for javascript
xmlhttprequests, so you won't need extra code for that.
