Not out of the question at all, but that doesn't make this the best place to ask. Perhaps I've misunderstood your question - I haven't seen anything "exact same" in the API that uses cgi at all, or creates a selection of XML files, or offers the user a drop-down select from a list of filenames; but maybe that's not what you mean.
