First off, I would like to caution you on the use of geocoded data derived from the Google Maps API based geocoder. The terms are pretty restrictive and it already sounds as if you're in violation. I strongly suggest reading the terms document before you spend any more time and capital on that data. You may have to discard the coordinates.
As for the disconnect between USPS data and Google, I would go with the USPS. Google's geocoder, like all geocoders, is as much art as science and as such, has a wide range of possible errors, from new roads not included in the database to incorrect spellings, wrong cities, states even countries. When you take the geocoder as a whole, it's a fantastic resource but when you delve into the minutia, it's not going to be anywhere near 100%, I rate their data at 93% compared to the USPS "deliverable" addresses. You didn't mention the percentage of address that fell into the 2-5 range, I would be very interested to see your statistics on that topic. If you could run the query and give the results broken down by USPS 1-5 code and percentage, it would be very insightful. -John Coryat http://maps.huge.info http://www.usnaviguide.com http://www.zipmap.net --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API" group.
