I suspect that it's not the filesize which is the problem -- you have
successfully displayed larger files, as you say. It's highly likely to
be the image size and any processing GGeoXml does with it. Is your
image really so detailed that you need 7000 pixels across to display
it? Have you tried reducing it to (say) 875x492? Or even 1750x984?

Or if you really do need that level of detail, why don't you cut the
image up?
