Not to hijack the thread, but quick question on that custom control:  
it's effectively embedding a second map in the control, right? So if  
you wanted to add any overlays and the like, you'd have to add them to  
both instances? I'm from Alaska, and I work for a university that  
provides a lot of space-borne remote sensing data over the area. It'd  
be great to use something like that to display a couple regions of  
interest, although I'd go a little further and have the extra views  
disappear after zooming out to a certain level. Anyhow, we have the  
user draw a region on the map, and I'm curious what would be required  
to get it all to sync up properly. :)

I'd take the time to figure out what exactly is going on based on the  
example, but I am (at least theoretically) still at work, and I  
thought maybe you could offer a quicker answer. ;)
