Read the Terms :-) http://code.google.com/apis/maps/terms.html Using the free API you can't charge for the use of the API or the mapping. So getting at the maps within your app must be free. If you want to add value in a paid version so that you're charging for some other part of the functionality (like the ability to save data), that's probably ok. It's not ok to have a time-limited trial and have to pay for exactly the same software once the trial version has expired.
