Hi there, I'm developing a very basic web-app for the iPhone (I have a 3G S) that contains a map. In the process I have discovered that zooming & panning my map is considerably slower (regarding the frame rate) than the map that Google themselve are using in their Latitude web-app, even though theirs is bigger than mine. It's really smooth. How do they do it? Is there a "secret mobile safari optimized" API version that is not available to the public? My map is really a basic 320x320px map without any markers, callbacks or any other navigation elements. It's like a miracle that the Latitude map is so much faster even with overlays. Thanks for any advice!
