You're saying it's possible to run compiled applications in Safari? Check out http://www.google.com/latitude on your iPhone. The map that is showing there is damn fast, but still in Safari. So at least it seems like a web-app. Or go to http://maps.google.com/maps/m?mode=latitude&source=mgc#ll=53.556510,10.028076&z=14&view=map&frid=-871870991396729436&ac=f in your Firefox. (It's the same page I see on my iPhone after logging in.)
