IE performs poorly in this kind of application, its that simple.  Its
javascript and graphics are slow.

I've already pointed out a bunch of potential performance
improvements, starting with simplifying what you're asking the browser
to do, and going up in complexity from there.

GGeoXml offers the advantage of offloading some of the work to
Google's servers, and the disadvantage that you can't easily control
things like infowindow size and sidebar layout.  It's your choice
there.
