I'm not so sure, I think a lawyer is needed -
Certainly you must display free GDirections 'content' in either map or
text.
But I do not think that having done so, you then get licence to do
what else you like with the data??

For example, it would still be against the terms to store the
directions for any purpose other than enhancing the map/directions
page, e.g. storing temporarily to save further lookups today would
seem to be okay. Storing en-mass so that you could provide your own
competing satnav system would of course be bad, even if you displayed
them on a Google map once before.

For another example, getting Directions to select a depot and/or print
off and hand to a courier van driver is expressly forbidden ("not
for .. dispatch, fleet management, business asset tracking, or similar
enterprise applications ").

Extracting distance to calculate e.g. a delivery charge is in a rather
grey area; are you then 'creating derivative Content' (which is
forbidden)? I'm rather taking the assumption that Google provide a
free Directions service to be used as directions, and not as a
commercial tariff calculator, but the terms are not explicit about
that.
