Geocoding takes an address or search string as a human may enter it,
abbreviations, misspellings, and all. Try this related search for example:

http://maps.google.com/maps/api/geocode/json?address=1600+Armpitheater+Mtn+View&sensor=false

Naturally the more detailed and precise you can make the search, the better
your odds are of getting the result you want.
