I understand and agree with the necessity for not removing the google branding from a map.
I am wondering if there is any sort of exception for creating an "overview" map, like google uses on the main map page (maps.google.com), since they are of the exact same map? Leave the main map alone with the google branding and text, but be allowed to remove it from the smaller overview map? Its very difficult to see a little overview map when the google logo and text are in it, which takes up the whole view of the overview map making the concept not very useful if a designer wanted to do something similar.
