Not sure how to look at how the checkbox value is handled. I looked at the requests in Firebug and my limited knowledge didn't reveal anything significant. If you have any ideas on how I can trap the request and code, I'm all ears.
I just don't get why labels wouldn't default to on, though. It's been that way for "Satellite" view in the main maps.google.com site for years, even when they've implemented new types of controls. Who wants to look at imagery without "labels"?
