'charset=UTF-32'  works good with FF and IE, but with Chrome and
Safari I just see �����������������������...........
I also tried 'charset=UTF-16' and it works good with FF, Chrome and
Safari but makes problems with IE

the problem with umlaute only occurs when I get the data from Fusion
Tables with the Google Visualization API.
When I get the data with the 'google.maps.FusionTablesLayer class' the
umlaute are displayed correct in all browsers (e.g. in the
infowindows) but with 'google.maps.FusionTablesLayer class' there is
no way to create a sidebar (so far I know).
