We have that in XMPP:

Google Talk doesn't let you communicate with entities that are not in
your buddy list, so they will need to fix that before you can join
random chatrooms. I have some ideas about that, which I'll post to our
standards list....

Returning groupchat rooms in Google searches would be good. Double-
click the xmpp: URI and it launches your IM client.
