One thing to keep in mind.. file transfer size limits and message rate limiting might seem to be analogous, but that may not be the case. I believe that file transfers are set up in a "peer to peer" fashion, so the data doesn't pass through the google servers at all.. the google service is just used to negotiate the connection.
