Right!
I forgot that file transfers as done by Google are handled as P2P by libjingle.
Thanks!

BTW, is this why I can't exchange files between my Google Talk desktop client
and other Google-compatible IM clients (Spark and Miranda)?
IMs are flowing back and forth without any issues, but file transfers are not
working (in Spark, I can initiate the file transfer, but it fails immediately).
I don't know how Spark and Miranda handle file transfers, but I can guess they
are using jingle which is incompatible with libjingle. Just a guess...
OR, maybe it might have something to do with firewall-related issues: in order
to make Spark and Miranda work on my machine at work, I had to configure them
to use SSL port 443 instead of 5222/5223... I don't know yet how libjingle
works (just yesterday, managed to build it by removing call-related stuff).
Will figure it out... eventually... :-)

Thank you!

One thing to keep in mind.. file transfer size limits and message rate
limiting might seem to be analogous, but that may not be the case. I
believe that file transfers are set up in a "peer to peer" fashion, so
the data doesn't pass through the google servers at all.. the google
service is just used to negotiate the connection. The chat data, on
the other hand, does go through google before coming out the other
end.
